Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday unveil a range of projects in Assam, including a bridge over the Brahmaputra River and a data centre for the northeastern region.
Modi reached the state on a day-long visit to inaugurate an emergency landing facility (ELF) at Moran and launch projects worth over Rs 5,500 crore.
The projects aim to boost connectivity, strengthen digital infrastructure, promote higher education and enhance public transport, officials said.
The PM will inaugurate Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu across the Brahmaputra in Guwahati, built at a cost of around Rs 3,030 crore.
The six-lane extradosed Prestressed Concrete (PSC) bridge will connect Guwahati with North Guwahati and is the first extradosed bridge in the Northeast.
It will cut travel time between Guwahati and North Guwahati to just seven minutes. Presently, only the Saraighat Bridge in Jalukbari area connects the two banks of the Brahmaputra in the capital region, with the travel time taking around 30 ...

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid homage to the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on this day in 2019 and said every Indian draws strength from their enduring courage.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan also paid tributes to the personnel who laid down their lives in the attack.

Bangladesh's Election Commission has published a gazette of newly elected members of Parliament from the 13th general election, paving the way for their swearing-in, media reports said on Saturday.
The gazette was published for 297 out of the 300 parliamentary constituencies late on Friday, state-run BSS news agency reported.
The notification was signed by Akhtar Ahmed, secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat.
The next step is the swearing-in ceremony, which will officially seat them in Parliament, according to the bdnews24 news portal.
Parliamentary elections were held in Bangladesh on Thursday across 299 of the country's 300 constituencies, while the results from two seats were withheld.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) bagged 209 out of 297 seats and is making a return to power after a gap of two decades.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday invited citizens to actively participate in shaping the state budget 2026-27 by sharing suggestions, ideas and feedback, stressing that the government aims to make the process more inclusive, participatory and people-centric.
In a message shared on social media, the chief minister called on people from all sections of society to contribute their inputs as the state prepares its annual financial roadmap.
He emphasised that public participation is key to building a stronger, progressive and inclusive Arunachal Pradesh.
"As we prepare the Arunachal Budget 2026-27, the government of Arunachal Pradesh invites valuable suggestions, ideas, and feedback from all citizens," Khandu said in a post on X.

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) globally presents significant opportunities for Indian companies and will not adversely impact their businesses, Nasscom AI Head Ankit Bose said on Tuesday.
He said instead of job cuts, India will witness job transformations as roles evolve with the growing adoption of AI.
"AI is getting developed across the world, but who will deploy that. For that you need people... So now India adding capacity... AI is happening at a massive scale and Indian professionals will deploy that. So it's a big opportunity for us but we have to be ahead of the curve and we have to keep our skills up to date," Bose told PTI.
He said at the sidelines of a session in the AI Impact Summit here.
To build capacity, the government and private sector are taking steps.
"In the next few months we are going to enable 1.5 lakh people in AI-based developers... We are working with government to develop curriculum that are needed in colleges," he said.
